Natural Strategies for Neurodivergent Brains:

Creating a personalized lifestyle plan that's good for your body and your brain

In this highly interactive class for middle and high schoolers, parents are invited to join students as they learn how all of the parts of their lives add up to how well they generally feel, how well they can pay attention, and how under control their emotions are.

Learn how food, sleep, a busy schedule, a restless brain, screen time, sensory experiences, relationships and the general activities we choose effect the health of not just our bodies, but our brains!

If you are interested in natural strategies for managing ADHD or Autism symptoms without medication, or simply are curious about how else you can manage your general health naturally, this class is a great opportunity to work as a team with your student to create a plan that can lead to increased cooperation and less frustration and meltdowns for both you and your student.

Students will gain confidence in self-management as they learn how to know what to expect from themselves in regards to their capacity for paying attention and relating well to others, how to advocate for themselves as needed, and how those skills increase the likelihood of them meeting their long-term goals.

Students (and parents) will work together with the group to:

-Explore how our bodies, minds and emotions are always working together

-Learn how small changes to communication strategies can reduce dysregulation in students (and parents!)

-Look at some of the short and long-term consequences of not caring for our brains

-Identify areas for improvement that would benefit their overall mind-body health

-Create a practical plan to improve health in each of the areas of body, mind and emotions

-Assess how effective their plan is and adjust it accordingly

-Identify the areas of lifestyle change that made the biggest impact on their attention and emotional regulation over the 12 weeks of the class

-Learn to be accountable to themselves to make good choices for their bodies and brains beyond the class for a more regulated life with less severe symptoms!

IMPORTANT: Students and parents should be ready to commit to a series of one-week lifestyle change experiments to help them identify habits and strategies they would like to implement long-term as a family!
